UploadVR, a virtual reality tech company that has offices on the west coast, is being sued for a wide range of illegal acts towards their employees, including wrongful termination, sexual harassment, and discrimination. The allegations come from UploadVR's former Director of Digital and Social Media, who was fired seemingly after she raised these issues with the company.
The lawsuit went into some detail about the atmosphere at UploadVR. The lawsuit alleges that the founders of the company wanted a "boys club," and that woman were routinely subjected to sexual harassment, and that the sexually-charged atmosphere made it very difficult for female employees to get their work done.
The founders went so far as to have a room in the office that had a bed in it. They called it the "kink room." They also routinely hosted parties with the intent being to have sex with as many girls as they could.
This is all despicable behavior even outside of the context of a workplace environment. Add that in, and it is illegal and abhorrent. If true, these allegations should lead to UploadVR being held liable on numerous charges brought forth in the lawsuit.
It's just another reminder of the difficult situations many female employees are put in every day in this country. While men can be sexually harassed at work too, women face the brunt of it. When confronted with this behavior, anyone should consult with an attorney so that their case can be fully reviewed.
